Wolne Lektury PL – Polish Free Library

Free reading is free books that reach kids all over Poland thanks to an innovative free library with school reading and thousands of e-book and audiobooks. Mission of  WolneLektury.pl is to support children and youth from the poorest families and towns where bookstores and libraries are lacking. We want them to have easy and free access to e-books-school reading, interesting and valuable novels, stories, poems. This is important because in 32% of houses in Poland there is not a single book (Data of the Polish National Library, 2022). They also level the educational opportunities of kids, giving them easy access to compulsory school reading. We are part of the free internet movement, free culture and free software – we publish only on free licenses, because everyone has the right to culture!

All books presented on www.wolnelektury.pl  in a public domain or free license (Creative Commons Recognition – on the same conditions or a license of free art) are available on free reading. This means that they can be browsed, listened to, downloaded to your computer free of charge, as well as shared and quote to others. However, using resources from free reading, you should remember a few rules that we wrote in our attribution book. Get to know her before you continue our books.

Social Activities

Free reading is an online library with ebooks and audiobooks open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, whose harvest is available completely free and without registration. Every day in search of books, over 15,000 look into our e-books. Students and students. In total, over 6.4 million unique users per year, including many adults, use free reading with e-bibloteka. Thanks to new technologies, everyone can wear the entire library in their pockets!

There are 6714 songs in the free reading collections, including many school reading recommended for use by the Ministry of Polish National Education, which have already been found in the public domain. We also spend our own classics translations under a free license, including Doctor Dolittle, a little prince and an invasion of lizards (and soon 1984, you can find the full list here).
All works are developed by us – bearing footnotes, motifs, references to Wikimedia and made available in several online reading formats or downloading to your own device (HTML, TXT, PDF, EPUB, MOBI, FB2). We work on our own IT systems, developing free software. We recorded and made more than 1 thousand audiobooks read by outstanding teachers. Audiobooks are an irreplaceable help for students with dyslexia and other reading dysfunctions resulting from attention (e.g. ADHD, autism spectrum) or motor skills. We also prepare them in Daisy and EPUB 3 MO formats for the students of the visually impaired, blind.

We spend all the songs posted in the Library Free Reading on free licenses, thanks to which everyone can browse, listen, download, to their computer for free, as well as to share and quote for free.
In addition to running the library, we are involved in the promotion of reading by organizing competitions for schools and young artists, we run a free poetry school.
